► The Art Of Noise @ Café Central (FREE ENTRANCE)

► In 1913, the Italian Luigi Russolo wrote a Futurist manifesto entitled The Art of Noises - L’Arte dei Rumori – in which he declared that music must adjust to the new industrial age and must be a reflection of the noisy city with its ‘hissing, beeping, humming, thumping, shuddering and shaking’. If Russolo hadn’t left us in 1947, he would shamelessly sate himself on the (claustrophobic) noise(-rock) and cutting-edge experimental electro that BRDCST presents in the year 2019 – with acts like Blanck Mass, Bliss Signal, Black Midi or Ipek Gorgun.

► Base of operations is the nearby Café Central (Borgval 14), right near the famous Sint-Goriks Halls.

► BLISS SIGNAL (UK)
► NOISE & ELECTRO MEETS BLACK METAL BY MUMDANCE VS ALTAR OF PLAGUES PROTAGONISTS

Dark electro, beats, and black metal guitar-riffs form the core of the radical sound of British duo Bliss Signal. The project is a collaboration between UK based grime-producer Jack Adams (Mumdance) and the black metal & electro of musician James Kelly (WIFE, Altar Of Plagues). Their different backgrounds result in an entirely new sound in which noise, obscure electro, and black metal fuse into one whole. Bliss Signal debuted in 2017 at the Unsound Festival (Kraków, Poland), where they created an awesome wall of sound live that was also captured on their impressive debut in 2018.

Basically: thumping, rattling and shaking of the highest class.

►GUTTERSNIPE (UK)
► A BRUTAL VERSION OF WOLF EYES MEETS LIGHTNING BOLT, BUT MULTIPLIED?

Guttersnipe undermines the masculinity and the macho vibe of noise and rock music, with an ecstatic atonal sound. The guitarist/singer took on the name Urocerus Gigas and drummer Tipula Confusa also prefers to be addressed by his spidery pseudonym. The duo from Leeds is still searching for the point at which an emotion is so intense that it becomes its own antithesis. They call the furious energy of that moment ‘the hysterical zone’ and it is translated into a crazy, uncompromising live performance. Their debut ‘My Mother The Vent’ was considered one of the 50 Best Albums of 2018 by leading magazine The Wire. The Quietus: ‘One of the most exciting live acts in the UK underground, if not the entire world.’ Thurston Moore and Richard Dawson have already outed themselves as fans.

► COCAINE PISS (BE)
► Sneak preview of the new album, with Steve Albini as producer

Cocaine Pissss equals brutal punk and raw energy. The four released their first cassette in 2015, it was barely 14 minutes long and contained twelve tracks of unyielding punk (on which singer Aurélie Poppins was responsible for the howling). A year later, the band from Luik ducked into the studio with Steve Albini (who has frequently been seen wearing a Cocaine Piss T-shirt) to record second album ‘The Dancer’. Now they return, with EP ‘My Cake’, and the fury in their music has only increased. Or, to say it in their own words: ‘Cocaine Piss are back! They're pretty, they're pretty pissed, and they brought cake. But don't touch it, don't fucking touch it!’ They will continue in the same vein in March, with their third full album and a brand new line-up of players at once.
